Every Tuesday since February of 2005, WMSE has welcomed a Milwaukee-area artist into the Bob and Genie Friedman Live Performance Studio to perform a full set live on the airwaves, made possible by WMSE’s amazing sound engineer Billy Cicerelli. On Tuesday, November 12, 2013, WMSE updated the beloved program to give Local/Live more visibility and time to expand upon the mission of supporting Milwaukee-made music. With a full-hour, 6 – 7 p.m. time slot, the show grew into an even more in-depth showcase and conversation, hosted by WMSE Music Director, Erin Wolf, along with Milwaukee music writer and WMSE DJ, Cal Roach. View Photos From Past Local/Live Performances The Show: Wolf and Roach collaborate to book, curate, feature and converse with musicians, groups and bands primarily from the Milwaukee area (all from Wisconsin) with the intent to feature the new and up-and-coming alongside seasoned veterans. WMSE engineer Billy Cicerelli is at the helm of each weekly band performance, giving each performing band the option of taking and using the recording of their live performance for WMSE’s Local/Live, should they choose. View Upcoming Shows The Segments: The show begins with an introduction and bio of the week’s musician(s) from Wolf and Roach before the week’s guest kicks off their first live set of original music (engineered by WMSE’s Billy Cicerelli). Following the initial live performance is an in-depth interview, lead by Wolf and Roach. Another live set follows and the show winds down in the final minutes of the hour with each week’s Local/Live guest(s) talking about and playing a song from another artist that has served as an inspiration to them over the years or at the moment, called “This Is Your Song” (a segment within a segment).
