Cross Pollination

onWNYU(New York, NY)

DESCRIPTION
Cross Pollination examines the cross cultural exchanges that have been happening in electronica since the mid 1990s. This includes the intersections between electronica and jazz, afro-latino, bossa nova, samba, middle eastern, south asian and eastern asian influences. Thanks to globalizing forces, there was an intense period of cultural recombinations during the 1990s and early 2000s when these "internationalist" artists and record labels began to appear. Talented groups of musicians influenced by all of these genres have reinvented them using the recent advances in digital production to produce new, innovative electronic sounds and beats.
